Does PEESE really stand for "Process Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering"?

The simple short answer to the question is a big "NO".  Please review the following information before deciding whether the program is what you think it is and whether if the program is really right for you.

The longer version of the answer to this question is this:

- There is only ONE environmental related lecture and it is a condensed class ("Environmental Technologies")
- The energy part of the program included "Energy Engineering I & II" and "Energy Economics", but these classes are very basic and fundamental, most of the contents were probably covered in your bachelor's degree
- Almost all other courses focus disproportionally heavy on chemical reaction, processing columns and column distillation related topic

The name of the program is only to give student the false impression of the program, luring new students into thinking that program is actually very energy and environmentally oriented.  A better name should have been "Process Energy and Distillation Column Control Engineering" (or "PEDCCE", since they seem to like long names and weird abbreviations).

ATTENTION:   mechanical engineers
This is the wrong program for you IF you are coming to this program for energy or environmental systems, I can promise you that your undergrad program has covered on these topics more than what PEESE offers.  I can be certain that you would be very disappointed by what PEESE could offer you.

Also, they have been very misleading about the length a student would need to complete the PEESE program.  Even if you take every course promptly, you would still need at least 2½ years to finish, but most of the student take longer than that.

This is the right program for you IF you are gearing into chemical engineering or column distillations.

Personal recommendation:
I'm sure I'm not misrepresenting if I were to say that majority of the people who have gone through PEESE feel going through PEESE is not at all worth it.  Badly organized master program PLUS badly structured university AND technologically out-dated student resources (software, less-than-enough computers, everything).  I strongly suggest looking for another program before you decide signing up for PEESE.
